.Independence Isn’t Lost, It’s Waiting.

Help Melinda See
the Light Again

Life has a way of testing us in ways we never expect. For my wife, Melinda, that test came when she began to lose her sight due to rapidly progressing glaucoma. In just a few months, Melinda went from embracing the beauty of the world to navigating darkness with unyielding courage.

Going blind isn’t just about darkness — it’s about the small freedoms that get taken away piece by piece. Things most of us take for granted: walking outside alone, crossing the street safely, even moving around without fear of stumbling into something unseen.

Some days are harder than others, but one thing remains steady — Melinda’s strength. She keeps pushing forward, even when the world gets blurry and the independence she once had feels just out of reach.

We’re currently fighting for two vital tools that can help Melinda reclaim her independence and confidence:

A guide dog (CNI dog): not just a companion, but a lifeline that can help Melinda safely navigate the world outside her home.

Assistive technology glasses: these don’t restore sight in the traditional sense, but they describe the world around her in real time. Imagine a voice gently saying, “crosswalk ahead, light is green,” giving Melinda the freedom and confidence no cane ever could.

The cost of these essential tools is significant, a guide dog alone can range from $30,000 to $50,000, plus the assistive technology. This is why we're asking for help, to raise funds for both. Your support, whether through a donation, sharing this story, or sending encouragement, can help give Melinda back a piece of her life and the freedom to feel the world is open again.

This isn’t about charity. It’s about restoring independence, hope, and dignity. Melinda’s story is part of our truth, a real-life journey with no filters, reminding us that life doesn’t wait for us to be ready.

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for reading, for caring, and for keeping it real with us.

With gratitude,
